Description

The 2009 (D) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - William Henry Harrison, Position A is a special strike dollar struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint issued 784,614 of the 2009-D Satin Finish William Henry Harrison dollar in all, with edges running either way; the count with Position A lettering is unknown. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The ninth President (1841), William Henry Harrison holds the distinction of serving the shortest presidency in American history — just 31 days — after dying of pneumonia contracted during his inauguration. His two-hour inaugural address remains the longest in presidential history. William Henry Harrison, Tyler, Polk, and Taylor were released. "In God We Trust" moved from the edge to the obverse, ending the "Godless Dollar" controversy. Production remained high for circulation. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #407380.
