The 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative Half Dollar is a United States half dollar from the Modern Commemorative Half Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint sold 340,757 of these half dollars, all from San Francisco: 120,180 uncirculated coins and 220,577 proofs. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by Susan Gamble and Joseph Menna/Donna Weaver and Charles Vickers.
