The 2008 American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a United States platinum coin from the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series — the final year of the series. In 2008 the Mint sold 17,000 bullion coins struck at Philadelphia, 5,138 proofs struck at West Point and 3,706 burnished coins struck at West Point. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward; the bullion reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise, and the proof and burnished reverse Lady Justice watched over by an eagle, for the judicial branch. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by John M. Mercanti (obverse) and Thomas D. Rogers Sr. (bullion reverse), with the proof and burnished reverse by Joel Iskowitz.
