Description

The 2007 (W) Proof American Eagle Fifty Dollar Platinum - Frosted FREEDOM is a proof platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Eagle Fifty Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. With a mintage of only 21, this is an extremely rare issue. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Designed by John M. Mercanti. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 15.56 grams, 27 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #506625. The half-ounce American Platinum Eagle contains 1/2 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum. Fractional platinum eagles were discontinued after 2008 in bullion format, making earlier issues increasingly sought after. Proof versions were also produced.
