Description

The 2007 (P) American Eagle Fifty Dollar Platinum is a platinum coin produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Eagle Fifty Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. With a mintage of just 7,001, this is a rare issue sought by specialists. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Thomas D. Rogers. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 15.56 grams, 27 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #146927. The half-ounce American Platinum Eagle contains 1/2 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum. Fractional platinum eagles were discontinued after 2008 in bullion format, making earlier issues increasingly sought after. Proof versions were also produced.
