Description

The 2007 (P) Wyoming Satin Finish State Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 895,628 satin-finish Wyoming quarters dated 2007. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order the states ratified the Constitution or joined the Union. The reverse depicts a bucking horse and rider, with the inscription "The Equality State." Wyoming's bucking bronco represents its cowboy heritage, while the nickname honors its trailblazing role as the first territory to grant women the right to vote in 1869. The 2007 quarters honored, in release order, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Auction record: $79 SP69 12-27-2016 Heritage Auctions. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #389914.
