Description
The 2006 (D) North Dakota State Quarter is a quarter produced at the Denver Mint as part of the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 359 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 10 variants, accounting for 12% of the year's production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse depicts two American bison grazing with a sunset view of the rugged Badlands buttes and canyons in the background, capturing the untamed beauty of North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park region. Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $3 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #39027.
