Description
SKH-1c-2005-04, the fourth spiked head for the 2005 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent, was added to the Cuds on Coins catalog on November 21, 2024, nearly two decades after the coins were produced — a reminder that die variety discovery is an ongoing process limited only by the availability of unsearched coins and the persistence of variety hunters. A spiked head is a die crack or break at the top of Lincoln's head: planchet metal fills the crack during striking and stands up from the portrait as a raised spike.
