Description

The 2005 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Satin Finish is a special strike cent struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. With a mintage of 1.2 million, this is an extremely rare issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C.. Satin Finish Mint Set cents were introduced this year, replacing the traditional brilliant uncirculated finish in mint sets. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $59 MS69RD 08-12-2010 David Lawrence RC. Struck in copper-plated zinc, weighing 2.5 grams, 19 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #93191.
