The 2005 American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a United States platinum coin from the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. In 2005 the Mint sold 14,013 bullion coins struck at Philadelphia and 8,104 proofs struck at West Point. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward; the bullion reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise, and the proof reverse an eagle perched on a heraldic shield. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by John M. Mercanti (obverse) and Thomas D. Rogers Sr. (bullion reverse), with the proof reverse by Donna Weaver.
