Description
The 2004 (P) Proof Lewis & Clark Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 351,989 proof Lewis and Clark Bicentennial dollars dated 2004. The obverse shows Lewis and Clark and the reverse the Jefferson peace medal with two feathers and 17 stars. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #921005.
