Description

The 1998 (S) Matte Finish Silver Kennedy Half Dollar is a matte-finish 90% silver half dollar, sold in sets with the Robert F. Kennedy silver dollar and struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. The San Francisco Mint struck 62,000 matte-finish silver half dollars dated 1998. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $45 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a 150 reeds edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6775.
