The 1997 (S) Proof Jackie Robinson Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The San Francisco Mint struck 110,002 proof Jackie Robinson dollars dated 1997. The obverse shows Jackie Robinson stealing home in the 1955 World Series and the reverse the Jackie Robinson Foundation's 50th anniversary logo. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9758.
