Description

The 1992 (S) Proof Lincoln Memorial Cent is a proof cent struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. With a mintage of 4.2 million, this is an extremely rare issue. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C.. The 1992 "Close AM" and "Wide AM" reverse varieties began appearing, creating years of collector interest. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $6. Struck in copper-plated zinc, weighing 2.5 grams, 19 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #93503.
