Description
The 1991 (S) Proof Mount Rushmore Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The San Francisco Mint struck 738,419 proof Mount Rushmore Golden Anniversary dollars dated 1991. The obverse shows the Mount Rushmore memorial and the reverse the Great Seal over a map of the United States. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9645.
