Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1988 (D) Olympic Dollar is part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Denver Mint struck 191,368 uncirculated Seoul Olympiad dollars dated 1988. The obverse shows the torch of the Statue of Liberty and the Olympic torch joined in one flame and the reverse the U.S. Olympic Committee emblem. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9628.
