The San Francisco Mint struck 2,747,116 proof United States Constitution Bicentennial dollars dated 1987. The obverse shows a quill pen and parchment with "We the People" and the reverse a group of Americans of different backgrounds. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9625.
