Description
The 1986 (S) Proof Statue Of Liberty Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The San Francisco Mint struck 6,414,638 proof Statue of Liberty Centennial dollars dated 1986. The obverse shows the Statue of Liberty with Ellis Island behind her and the reverse her torch with lines from Emma Lazarus. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #973310.
