Description
The 1984 (D) Olympic Dollar was struck at the Denver Mint as a dollar in the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 116,675 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 5% of total production. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages.
