Description
Part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series, the 1977 (D) Kennedy Half Dollar is a half dollar from the Denver Mint. The Denver Mint struck 31,449,106 half dollars dated 1977. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a 150 reeds edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6732.
