Description
The 1976 Kennedy Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Bicentennial Coins 1976 series. The U.S. Mint produced 234.3 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 44% of production. The obverse features the standard obverse for each denomination with dual dates 1776-1976 and the reverse displays special reverse designs: Colonial drummer boy (quarter), Independence Hall (half dollar), Liberty Bell and Moon (dollar). Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.3 grams, 31 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6726.
