Description
The 1976 Kennedy Half Dollar is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Bicentennial Coins 1976 series. Total mintage reached 234.3 million. The obverse features the standard obverse for each denomination with dual dates 1776-1976, while the reverse displays special reverse designs: Colonial drummer boy (quarter), Independence Hall (half dollar), Liberty Bell and Moon (dollar). Designed by Gilroy Roberts/Frank Gasparro. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.3 grams, 31 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6726. The 1976 Bicentennial Coins celebrated the 200th anniversary of American independence. Among the most recognized modern U.S. coins. The 40% silver versions in both proof and uncirculated finishes are collectible. Billions of clad versions were struck for circulation.
