Description
The 1974 Eisenhower Dollar is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Eisenhower Dollars 1971-1978 series. With a mintage of 27.4 million, this is a less common issue โ ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 37% of production. The obverse features Dwight D. Eisenhower facing left and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon with an olive branch in its talons, commemorating the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The final year of the standard Eisenhower reverse before the Bicentennial design. The 1974-D with an "Ike" mintage of 45.5 million is the most commonly circulated date. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $9 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 22.7 grams, 38.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7415.
