A dollar from the San Francisco Mint, the 1973 (S) Silver Eisenhower Dollar belongs to the Eisenhower Dollars 1971-1978 series. With a mintage of 869,400, this is an extremely rare issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 18% of total production. The obverse features Dwight D. Eisenhower facing left and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon with an olive branch in its talons, commemorating the Apollo 11 lunar landing. No business strikes were released into circulation — Eisenhower Dollars were available only in official Mint Sets and collector packaging, making 1973-P and 1973-D scarce.
