The 1970 (S) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Proof Small Date is a proof cent struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. San Francisco's 1970 proof cents numbered 2.6 million in all; the Small Date share of that total is not recorded. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C.. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors.
