Description
Struck at Philadelphia, this 1960 Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent is listed by Cuds on Coins as RIDB-1c-1960-07(LD), a retained interior die break on the obverse. The 07 is its sequence number, (LD) identifies the Large Date, and the code carries no mint letter and no reverse R. In this error a section of the die face away from the rim has broken free of the die but stays where it was, hemmed in by the surrounding steel. Coins from the die show that section as a raised island with its design intact, separated from the adjacent design by an abrupt step.
