Description
This 1960 Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent, struck at Philadelphia, carries Cuds on Coins number RIDB-1c-1960-05(LD) for a retained interior die break on its obverse. The (LD) suffix marks the Large Date, 05 is the sequence number, and the code's lack of a trailing R identifies the obverse die as the one that failed. A section of the die away from the rim fractured but stayed lodged in place, so the coin shows that area raised above the design around it, still bearing its design, with an abrupt step at the boundary. Cuds on Coins also notes a reverse die crack on this coin, marked with a black arrow in its photographs.
