Description
The 1951 Washington quarter was struck during the 1950s, a period of economic expansion and suburban growth that fueled demand for circulating coinage. The series continued with Flanagan's original design, now well into its second decade of production, featuring Washington's Houdon bust obverse and heraldic eagle reverse. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this issue is identified by the S mint mark on the reverse beneath the eagle's tail feathers. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighing 6.25 grams with a diameter of 24.3mm and a reeded edge.

Mintage of 9,048,000 pieces. A moderately available issue, though gem examples (MS-65 and above) can be elusive due to the typically weak strikes and contact marks found on silver quarters of this era.
