Cataloged by VarietyVista with UVC and DMR codes pending assignment, this 1937 Denver Walking Liberty Half Dollar displays a doubled die reverse with extra thickness visible on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, HALF DOLLAR, the dots, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the cactus element on the reverse. Die stage analysis places Stage A with the reverse in early die state and the obverse in late die state, while Stages B and C remain unconfirmed at mid-die state and late die state respectively. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar, produced from 1916 through 1947, was designed by Adolph A. Weinman and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful United States coin designs. The reverse features a bald eagle perched on a mountain pine branch with a saguaro cactus visible in the background landscape. The extra thickness across multiple legend elements and design features indicates a broad hub doubling event that affected a significant portion of the reverse die surface.
