Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1927 Peace Dollar is part of the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 848,000 Peace dollars in 1927. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. The Denver Mint struck 1,268,900 Peace dollars in 1927. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $88 to $2.0K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
