Description
This 1925 (D) Lincoln Wheat cent displays a rim cud on the obverse spanning 2:00 to 3:00. Obverse cuds on Lincoln cents are encountered far less often than reverse cuds, and this break sits along the rim to the right of the portrait in the area of LIBERTY and the upper field. The cud formed when the fractured section of the obverse die rim separated completely, leaving a cavity that filled with metal on each subsequent strike. Denver struck 22,580,000 cents in 1925, and the four rim cuds previously cataloged for the date are dominated by reverse breaks.
