Description

The 1922 Grant, with Star Half Dollar is a special strike commemorative half dollar. With a mintage of just 4,256, this is a rare and highly sought-after issue. Issued in 1922 to honor the centennial of the birth of Ulysses S. The obverse features a bust of Ulysses S. Grant facing right in military uniform, while the reverse displays Grant's birthplace log cabin in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Designed by Laura Gardin Fraser. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, 30.6 mm in diameter. Cataloged as PCGS #89307. The star variety is considerably scarcer, with a mintage of only 4,256 pieces, compared to approximately 67,000 for the plain version. Both varieties are popular with Civil War collectors and presidential numismatists.
