Description
The 1909 (S) Philippine Peso represents a San Francisco Mint issue from the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. Auction record: $43,200 MS67 01-16-2022 Heritage Auctions. Struck in silver, weighing 20 grams, 38 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #90395.
