Description
"Napoleon Sold It--April 30th--Jefferson Bought It--" reads the legend around the conjoined busts of Napoleon and Jefferson on HK-310, with 1803 below them. The reverse is a good-luck charm built around a horseshoe wound with a ribbon lettered "St. Louis / 1903-4 / Exposition," a four-leaf clover above, Good and Luck at either side, and seven stars above and below; "Louisiana Purchase" and "Stars and Stripes Forever" ring the field, and tiny "Pat'd" and 1903 sit at left and right. The listing runs from brass with a reeded edge, this piece, to aluminum (HK-311), silver (HK-311a) and gold (HK-311b). Brass, 36 mm, sold during the 1904 fair at St. Louis.
