Description
Discovered by Martin Field, August 1979. Revised 2012. Revised 2018 to add Die #1 and #2, Andrew Wojtowich 5 (revised) III2 5 - C4l (Doubled Profile, Near Date, Doubled Reverse Lettering) (189) Obverse III2 5 - Fairly strong doubled Liberty head profile from hair down to jaw with slight tripled chin. :''Die 1-'' Slightly tripled Phrygian cap top. Date at right edge of near lateral position. Fine vertical polishing lines right side of three lower cotton leaves. :''Die 1 Marker''- Tiny hooked die scratch at cap top fold junction. Die polishing lines in fields. :''Die 2 Marker'' - Virtually no die polishing lines in LIBERTY or elsewhere. Reverse C4l - Hub doubling of legend and motto letters similar to VAM 10. :''Die 1 Marker''- Several vertical polishing lines in eagle's right wing top opposite wreath end. Vertical die scratch at back of eagle's mouth. :''Die 2 Marker''- Long horizontal die scratch across eagle's right leg, but lower than VAM 15 die marker. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The polishing on Die 1 is similar to that on VAM 1A, but not as strong.
