Description
1898-S VAM-15 Open 9, S Tilted Right Discovered by John Coxe 15 III2 2 - C3d (Open 9, S Tilted Right) (?) Obverse III2 2- Open 9. The bottom loop of the 9 does not touch the upper loop. Reverse C3d- Mint mark tilted slightly to the right. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: This reverse shared w/ 1898-S VAM-5, 1898-S VAM-8, 1898-S VAM-8A, 1898-S VAM-9, 1898-S VAM-13, 1898-S VAM-15 & 1898-S VAM-15A. The obverse die is DIFFERENT from that for the 1898-S VAM-15A. The reverse die is the same. It is easy to discriminate them by the lateral position of the final 8. On the VAM-15, it is centered over the 13th denticle to the right of the bust point. The VAM-15A is shift left of there. This is the same obv. die used for the VAM-1B.
