Description
1897-S VAM-4 Doubled 1-7, Die Gouge Wreath Bow Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 4(revised) III23 · C3a (Doubled 1-7, Die Gouge Wreath Bow) (186) Obverse III23– 1-7 in date doubled. Long horizontal line well below top crossbar. 7 doubled at top as thin broken line. Reverse C3a– Diagonal die gouge in center and lower right outside of wreath bow. Some doubled leaves in left and right wreaths. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Spike on 1 is longer than on the 1897-S VAM-2. Date is also positioned lower. Same Obverse as 1897-S VAM-14. Reverse of VAM-14 has a clear bow and a slightly different Mint Mark.
