Description
1897-S VAM-19 Doubled 18, S Mint Mark Inverted Discovery April, 2022 - Brent Fogelberg/John Baumguart 19 (Doubled 18, S Mint Mark Inverted) Obverse III2 8 Reverse C3g - Inverted IV S mint mark, slightly set right and tilted left, but within tolerance of centered and upright. Heavy diagonal scratch inside wreath bow with another to the right of the bow. Die Markers - Strong, horizontal scratches across upper tail feathers. Lines in wing-neck gap. DPIS - C3/B45 Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The exact same obverse die was used to produce both the 1897-S VAM-17 and 1897-S VAM-19. Die polishing lines in TY of LIBERTY. Some specimens show tiny die chip at 1 top.
