Description
TDC-1c-1893-01 This is an unabraded, die clash that is found on the 1893 Indian Head penny (cent) . There is an indication that the dies did clash more than once. The obverse die shows clash marks left by the C of CENT in front of Liberty’s eyes and another clash mark left by part of the bow holding the wreath together can be seen to the left of the L in LIBERTY. The second picture shows the clash marks left by the wreath in between feathers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. A die chip is seen on the top of feather 8. The first picture of the reverse shows the clash marks left by the feathers intermingled with the wreath. The clash mark left by Liberty’s forehead can be see in the lower part of the C in CENT and a closer examination of this marl shows the possibility of a second clashing of the dies. The last picture shows the clash mark left by Liberty’s throat on top of the O in ONE. This is a fairly strong die clash and fortunently it is on a better grade coin.
