Description
"Christophus" in place of Christopher is the giveaway on HK-237e, a one-sided brass piece otherwise close to HK-237. The face shows the bearded Columbus in a ruffed collar, facing left, the misspelled name around the top and "1492-Chicago, U.S.A.- 1892" below, inside a beaded border, with nothing on the back. It is brass, reeded on the edge, 35 mm, without an Eglit number; HK-237 is Eglit 237. The listing does not say which came first or who made either. Both belong to the group of uniface souvenirs tied to the Chicago exposition, which held its dedication ceremonies on October 21, 1892, and its public season from May 1 to early November 1893.
