Description
This aluminum medal of the Chicago fair has a portrait of Columbus turned left within an open wreath on one side, circled by the exposition's name in a lettering style that uses V for U, and on the other the Art Palace, 320 feet by 500, its cost lettered as 670,000 dollars. HK-185 is the aluminum version of the reeded-edge brass HK-184, listed under the same Eglit number, 121, with the group's size given as 35 mm. Hibler and Kappen also record the Art Palace side struck against the Agricultural Building in aluminum, brass and silver-plated brass (HK-185a to HK-185c). The fair it marks was dedicated on October 21, 1892, with 125,000 people present, and opened to the public in May of the next year.
