1890-S VAM-7 S Tilted and Shifted Left, Die Gouges Cap, Die Break Neck Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. Reverse discovered by Charles Wallace, June 1966. Revised 2016. by Tmanhg 7 (revised) III2 1 - C3f (S Tilted and Shifted Left, Die Gouges Cap, Die Break Neck) (187, 188) Obverse III2 1 - 1890-S VAM-7.1 - Long segmented die gouge at top of Phrygian cap, above right cotton boll and to right of lower cotton leaf. Reverse C3f - IV S mint mark tilted and shifted slightly to the left. Die marker - Polishing lines in eagle's wing-neck gap. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: 1890-S VAM-7.1 and 1890-S VAM-7.2 share the exact reverse die but different obverse pairings. 1890-S VAM-7.1 shares obverse with 1890-S VAM-48 (The "Die Break Neck" is not on all 1890-S VAM-7.1). 1890-S VAM-1J became the 1890-S VAM-7A.
