Description

HK-610 is a white metal medal of the Georgia State Fair, dated on its reverse at Macon on October 25, 1887. The obverse is a bust of Jefferson Davis, the former Confederate president, named in the legend above his portrait. The reverse shows three columns holding up an arch lettered "Constitution," with a statue standing in each column and a log cabin, trees and a soldier in the distance, all inside the legend "Georgia State Fair." Hibler and Kappen list the medal in white metal only and give neither a maker nor an account of the fair, so what is known of the occasion comes from the medal itself: a Macon fair day in October 1887 marked with Davis's portrait.
