Description
1885-O VAM-18 Doubled 18 Top & Ear, Far Date Discovered by Larry Briggs, April 2002. Revised 2011. 18(revised) III2 13 · C3a (Doubled 18 Top & Ear, Far Date) (176) Obverse III2 13 – Slightly doubled 1 at very top and left 8 outside of upper loop. Slightly doubled ear at right inside with two tiny die chips just below inner ear fill as a die marker. Date set further right than normal. Die marker - Faint vertical polishing line below left end of cap ribbon. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Two small dots inside ear. Small die chip near top inside of eagle's right leg. This is one of those VAMs where the doubled ear is remarkably transitory (it is NOT always there).
