Description
The 1879 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1634 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. This is George T. Morgan's goloid metric dollar with a coiled hair head like that of his Stella, part of his goloid set. The design was repeated in 1880 (J-1654 to J-1656). A single example is known in white metal. It is struck in white metal with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1831 and Taxay EP1176. Cataloged as PCGS #62012.
