Description
The 1879 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1625 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. This is George T. Morgan's goloid metric dollar, sold in his goloid set with J-1631 and the Coiled Hair Stella (J-1638). The design was repeated in 1880 (J-1648 to J-1650). The single white metal example passed through the Newcomer and Farouk collections. It is struck in white metal with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1821, Adams-Woodin 1604 and Taxay EP1167. Cataloged as PCGS #62003.
