Description

An aluminum striking of the final two-cent pattern, J-1259 preserves the doomed denomination in the most enduring of experimental metals. As one of the last two-cent pieces of any kind, this aluminum pattern serves as both a metallurgical experiment and a memorial to the denomination that the Coinage Act of 1873 would permanently remove from the American coinage system. The piece documents the very end of a denomination that lasted barely nine years.

Rarity Notes

R-7 to R-8. Very rare, approximately 3-8 examples survive.
