Description
Featuring the Liberty Head with coronet obverse and heraldic eagle reverse of the production $2.50 gold piece, J-1333 was struck in the standard silver alloy. The 1873 quarter eagle patterns returned to a smaller three-variety format after the expanded six-variety program of 1872 that had included the Amazonian gilt variant. The quarter eagle would continue in production with this design until 1907.
