The 1873 Proof Quarter Eagle Pattern - J-1333 is a proof quarter eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It was struck from the regular 1873 quarter eagle dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1873 copper and aluminum strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle. Two examples are confirmed in copper. NGC's census also lists gilt examples of this Judd number. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1477 and Adams-Woodin 1293. Cataloged as PCGS #61621.
