Description

Judd-451, Pollock-519, is the third and final 1865 proof eagle motto pattern. This last variety completes the nine-pattern eagle development series spanning 1862-1865. The With Motto eagle entered regular production in 1866, using a design refined through these years of experimentation. The eagle denomination would continue with the With Motto design until the entire Liberty Head series was replaced by Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Indian Head design in 1907.

Rarity Notes
