Description
Judd-421, Pollock-494, is one of two 1865 proof dime With Motto patterns produced during the final year of the Civil War. This pattern tests the placement of IN GOD WE TRUST on the Seated Liberty dime reverse, building on the extensive dime experimentation of 1863 and 1864. The 1865 dime patterns represent the final refinement before the With Motto design entered regular production in 1866. Struck in silver with proof finish, this piece showcases the near-final configuration of the motto on the ten-cent denomination.
