Description
The 1864 Proof Three Cent Pattern - J-377 is a proof three-cent piece struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. Although listed in the references as a trial of the regular silver three-cent dies, USPatterns describes it as a backdated piece made from about 1869 into the early 1870s to complete off-metal sets sold with the In God We Trust quarter, half dollar and dollar. It is struck in nickel with a plain edge; USPatterns rates it R-8. Catalogued as Judd-377, Pollock-445. Cataloged as PCGS #60548.
